Which wax is best for sensitive skin?

Hard wax is often the preferred choice for sensitive skin because it adheres primarily to the hair rather than the skin. This helps reduce irritation, redness, and unnecessary pulling during removal. Waxes designed for sensitive skin are typically more flexible, work at lower temperatures, and are formulated to minimize skin adhesion. What temperature should hard wax be?

Hard wax should have a thick, honey-like consistency - smooth, spreadable, and slightly elastic when lifted. Most professional hard waxes perform best between 125°F-140°F (51°C-60°C), but consistency matters more than the exact number. If your wax feels watery, it may be too hot. If it drags or clumps, it may be too cool. Environmental factors like room temperature and humidity can also affect performance.

Why Is My Hard Wax Cracking?

Hard wax may crack if it’s applied too thin, overheated, removed too late, or exposed to prolonged heat (such as leaving your wax warmer on 24/7). Room temperature and humidity can also affect flexibility.

Soft Wax vs Hard Wax?

The main difference between soft wax and hard wax is how they’re applied and removed. Soft wax (also called strip wax) is spread thinly over the skin and removed with a paper strip, making it ideal for large areas like legs, arms, and backs. Hard wax is also applied directly to the skin but hardens as it cools and is removed without strips, making it perfect for sensitive areas such as the face, underarms, and Brazilian waxing. Hard Wax pros and cons?

Pros: Hard wax is applied directly to the skin, hardens as it cools, and is removed without strips. It adheres to the hair only, not the skin, which makes it gentler and more comfortable for sensitive zones such as the face, underarms, and Brazilian waxing. It’s also great for coarse or short hair.
Cons: Hard wax can take slightly longer to apply on larger areas and may require more product than soft wax for full-body services.

Soft Wax pros and cons?

Pros: Soft wax is applied in a thin layer and removed with strips, making it ideal for large areas like legs, arms, and backs. It quickly covers more surface area, grips fine hair effectively, and leaves the skin smooth.
Cons: Because it adheres to both the hair and skin, soft wax can sometimes cause more redness or irritation, especially on sensitive areas.

How do you know your wax is the right temperature?

The consistency of the wax should be soft but not runny. We have identified that temperature to be between 130°F to 135°F.

Bombshell hard wax should roll up in a 'lollipop' around the top of spatula, and not drip for a second or two.

Pre wax instructions?

- hair should be at least 1/4 inch long for the wax to be able to pick it up
- exfoliate to diminish bacteria and sebum.
- wear loose fitted, breathable fabrics.
- apply pre wax powder/oil of your choosing to prep the skin and create a barrier between the skin and the wax when applied.
